Homefield first teased this news early Sunday afternoon, sending a tweet with a picture that put a unique twist on one of Penn State’s logos.
Homefield then replied to the tweet, announcing that, at 6 p.m., it would reveal the school it would showcase in its upcoming “Big New Saturday.”
Penn State is the school.
“Big New Saturday” is the term Homefield uses because the designs that come from the deals it makes with schools come out at the exact times on, you guessed it, Saturdays.
Penn State fans are indeed more excited about this news than they were in the fall of 2020 when Homefield designed a shirt for Indiana fans to celebrate their team’s controversial win over Penn State.
In overtime, with Penn State up by a point and Indiana going for a two-point conversation that would decide the game one way or the other, Indiana quarterback Michael Penix ran and dove for the pylon.
The officials ruled it a touchdown, and the score and Indiana win were confirmed after the replay. Many Penn State fans disagreed with the decision and thought Penix was short, so the shirt rubbed salt in their proverbial wounds.
Generally, this news will be better received by Nittany Nation overall.
