Tony Rojas, a Class of 2023 four-star recruit out of Fairfax, Virginia, has made his decision to commit to Penn State. He chose Penn State over Clemson, Georgia and Miami.
The 6-foot-1.5, 200-pound linebacker has 25 offers from Division I schools. Rojas is the No. 3 player in Virginia, the No. 8 linebacker and the No. 107 ranked recruit nationally according to 247Sports’ composite rankings.
Rojas is a standout linebacker and tandout running back for Fairfax High School.
He rushed for 1,568 yards and 24 touchdowns while averaging 8.3 yards per carry in 2021. Rojas also caught 20 passes for 268 yards and five touchdowns as a junior. On defense, he recorded 40 tackles and seven sacks.
Rojas has been verified clocking in at 4.6 in the 40-yard dash and 4.2 in the shuttle. Scouts project Rojas to be a Mike on inside linebacker at the college level, but he’s capable of playing on the outside.
Scouts like Rojas’ ability to leverage and bend with his lower body to shed blockers. He plays with excellent instincts with the closing speed to tackle ball carriers and never gives up on a play. Rojas has the frame to gain 20-25 pounds of muscle without losing athleticism.
Rojas is Penn State’s first linebacker commit in the Class of 2023. He joins Alex Birchmeier, Mathias Barnwell and Anthony Donkoh as commits from Virginia.
