A pair of Penn State receivers, Parker Washington and Mitchell Tinsley, have been named to the Fred Biletnikoff Award watch list by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation ahead of the 2022 season.
The Biletnikoff Award is annually presented to the nation’s top pass catcher, and Penn State is expected by man to have one of college football’s better receiving corps, with Washington and Tinsley leading the way.
Washington is entering his third season with Penn State, and is already 22nd on the school’s all-time receiving list.
In 2021, Washington caught 64 passes for 820 yards and four touchdowns, playing the No. 2 receiver role behind future first-round draft pick Jahan Dotson.
Tinsley is entering his first season at Penn State and fifth season in college football overall.
Tinsley started his college career at Hutchinson Community College, where he spent the 2018 and ‘19 seasons, before moving on to Western Kentucky, where he spent the last two years.
In 2021, Tinsley exploded for 1,402 yards and 14 touchdowns on 87 catches.
He finished the season eighth in the country and receiving yards and is third among players returning for 2022.
Penn State’s Bobby Engram, now Wisconsin’s offensive coordinator, was the first college player to win the Biletnikoff Award, doing so in 1994. No Nittany Lion has won it since.
