Jayden Bonsu, a Class of 2023 four-star safety out of Hillside, New Jersey, announced Friday that he’ll be pushing his commitment date up to July 20.
Bonsu has Penn State in his top five, along with Alabama, Miami, Michigan State and Ohio State.

Bonsu was scheduled to make his commitment Aug. 20.
But his recruitment is going along faster and more intense after visits to Miami, Michigan State and Ohio State in June. Bonsu is the number three recruit in New Jersey, the No. 36 safety in the country and the No. 272 overall recruit in the Class of 2023.
Bonsu is a 6-foot-2, 205-pound safety who started his career at Hillside High School but transferred to St. Peter’s Prep for his junior season. In 2021, he recorded 62 tackles (7.5 for loss), 2.5 sacks, and two interceptions.
Scouts are impressed with Bonsu’s versatility. He can play deep safety, play in the box to support in run defense and can cover receivers and tight ends. He’s also a good open-field tackler that wraps up ball carriers that gets them down almost every time.
Bonsu has made two unofficial visits to Penn State thus far.
If Bonsu commits, he’d join wide receiver Ejani Shakir as New Jersey commits in the Class of 2023.
