Penn State quarterback Sean Clifford has been named a Maxwell Award player to watch ahead of the 2022 football season.

Clifford is entering his sixth season at Penn State and is expected to be the starter for the fourth year in a row. He’s coming off a 2021 season where he finished with 3,107 yards, 21 touchdowns, eight interceptions and a completion percentage of 61.
Clifford the only Penn State player nominated, and his former backup, Will Levis, now playing for the University of Kentucky, is also on the list.
