Danny O’Neil, a three-star Class of 2024 athlete out of Indianapolis, Indiana, visited Penn State on Thursday and will also be attending the Lasch Bash football camp and barbecue this weekend.
O’Neil is a 6-foot-0, 185-pound quarterback out of Cathedral High School, is the number five recruit in Indiana, the No. 33 quarterback, and the No. 393 overall recruit in the class of 2024, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. O’Neil holds offers from Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisville, and Purdue among Power Five schools.
Last season as a sophomore, O’Neil threw for 2,956 yards and 33 touchdowns and just two interceptions and also scored ten rushing touchdowns for the Fighting Irish, who went 14-1 and won the state Indiana 5A championship for the second consecutive year.
O’Neil has impressed in camps all summer in seven-on-seven drills showing off his arm talent and showing poise in the pocket and hitting receivers with pinpoint accuracy.
He already has a Crystal Ball Pick for Kentucky; however, Penn State has yet to extend an offer to O’Neil, and the Elite skills Showcase on Friday will allow Oneil to show coaches his skillset and receive and receive an offer from Penn State.
He will be with fellow quarterbacks Jayden Bradford and Malik Washington at the Lasch Bash.
