London Montgomery, a Class of 2023 four-star running back from Scranton Prep High School, has committed to Penn State.
Montgomery is the 17th player to commit to Penn State’s 2023 class and the sixth commit from Pennsylvania. Montgomery’s commitment has seemed inevitable for awhile, with all seven of 247Sports’ crystal ball predictions forecasting him choosing Penn State.

In his junior season, Montgomery (5-foot-11, 190 pounds) rushed for 2,356 yards and 36 touchdowns on 194 rushes, averaging 12.1 yards per carry. Penn State offered him back in March, and Nittany Sports Now spoke with Montgomery not long after.
Being from Pennsylvania, Montgomery is naturally familiar with Penn State football, and he grew up rooting for the team thanks to his grandmother.
“My grandma actually liked Penn State,” Montgomery told NSN, “so I was a big Penn State fan. I didn’t go to any games or anything, but I used to watch as a little kid. I always dreamed of getting an offer from Penn State, so it was definitely a blessing.”
The offer became something more, and now, Montgomery plans on becoming a Nittany Lion.
Montgomery is the first running back to commit to Penn State’s 2023 class. The team has promise in the backfield for the future, with five-star Nick Singleton and four-star Kaytron Allen each getting ready to begin their college football career in 2022.
