Big Ten Opponents Announced for Penn State Basketball Teams

Photo by Penn State Athletics: Micah Shrewsberry

The dates have yet to be determined, but Penn State’s men’s basketball Big Ten slate for year two of the Micah Shrewsberry-era and its women’s basketball Big Ten opponents for year four under Carolyn Kieger have been announced.

Penn State’s men’s team is slated to take on Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, Nebraska, Purdue, Rutgers and Wisconsin twice. Additionally, the team is scheduled to host Indiana,  Iowa and Michigan State and play at Minnesota, Northwestern and Ohio State.

The women’s team has two games scheduled against Michigan State, Minnesota, Iowa, Purdue and Rutgers. The Iowa matchups should be particularly exciting, with two of the top scorers in the country from last season— Penn State Makenna Marisa and Iowa’s Caitlin Clark— returning to their respective schools.

Clark led the nation in both scoring, at 27 points per game, and assists, averaging eight per contest.

Marisa finished second in the Big Ten and sixth in the nation in scoring at 22.2 points per game.

The women’s team has home games scheduled against Indiana, Northwestern, Ohio State and Wisconsin and is slated to play Illinois, Maryland, Michigan and Nebraska on the road.

Neither Penn State basketball team finished with a winning record last season, and both have talent coming back, hoping to improve this winter.
