2023 four-star cornerback and Alabama commit Elliot Washington II (5-foot-11, 195-pounds) has scheduled an official visit with Penn State for this weekend, June 10-12. Washington announced the official visit on his Twitter, which will be the first official visit for him.

Washington, who comes from Venice, Florida, is one of the top defensive back recruits in the country for the class of 2023. 247Sports has him ranked as the No. 6 safety in the entire country while Rivals has him much lower at No. 44, though he is still a four-star recruit on their website.
It could be tough for Penn State to convince Washington to de-commit though, in addition to Alabama being the nation’s premier college football program, Washington is a legacy at the school. Washington’s father, Elliot Washington, played basketball at Alabama from 1991-93.
Not only that, Washington was Alabama’s first commitment for the class of 2023 which is now up to four players. Washington is currently joined by five-star cornerback Jahlil Hurley, four-star quarterback Eli Holstein and four-star edge-rusher Yonzae Pierre.
Due to the low volume of recruits, which will obviously go up closer to signing day, Alabama’s class is only rated No. 32 currently in the country by 247Sports.
If he were to de-commit and chose Penn State, he’d join what is currently 247Sport’s No. 3 rated recruiting class. James Franklin’s 2023 class is buoyed in the rankings by his high number of hard commits (12), but is certainly not lacking quality.
The class is led by 2023’s top rated inside offensive line recruit in Alex Birchmeier. He is joined at the top by four-star recruits J’Ven Williams (OT), Andrew Rappleyea (TE), Jameial Lyons (Edge) and Ejani Shakir (WR). Three-star recruits Mathias Barnwell (ATH), Marcus Stokes (QB), Lamont Payne (CB), Joey Schlaffer (TE), Joshua Miller (IOL) and Anthony Donkoh (OT) round out the current class.
Prior to his commitment, Washington had 28 total offers and a top-five of Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, Michigan State and Penn State. 247Sports predicted he’d go to Michigan State. He has his official visit to Michigan State scheduled for June 17, the only other one he has scheduled as of this moment.
Washington will join safety four-star safety and Penn State target Moussa Kane in State College, Pennsylvania this upcoming weekend as Kane also announced his official visit earlier today.
