The 6-foot-3, 280-pound defensive lineman out of Christ the King High School has Penn State in the running along with Michigan, Oregon, Syracuse, and West Virginia. Blanding is recognized by 247Sports composite as the number one ranked recruit in New York. He has also received offers from Arizona State, Boston College, Miami, Nebraska, Oregon, South Carolina and Washington.
He will announce his decision a week after visiting Penn State and a week before he is to visit Michigan.
Thank you @coachjfranklin @ZemaitisTouch_ and the Penn State coaching staff for capping off an incredible “Official Visit Weekend” for @Tyriq58 & @Moussak_22 by hosting their youth program the @Harlem__Jets. The future is bright for NYC Football. pic.twitter.com/HpZfFFuJs5

Blanding talked to Blue White Illustrated about his experience at Penn State this past weekend.
“Last time I went there,” Blanding said, “I just saw the stadium. This time I got to see the whole thing, and it was great.”
“This time I got to see the coaching staff,” he said. “I got to spend more time with everyone. They liked me, my personality and they like the way I play. They like my height and weight, and they see me as a three-tech, I think Penn State would be a really good fit and my family could watch me play.”
Penn State is favored by On3, Rivals and 247Sports to land a commitment from Blanding. All three of 247Sports’ “crystal ball” projections have him picking Penn State.
If Blanding picks Penn State, he’d be the first defensive tackle to commit to the school in the Class of 2023.
