Olaivavega “Vega” Ioane, a Class of 2022 three-star commit out of Graham, Washington, will arrive on campus and officially join the Penn State program Sunday.
The 6-foot-4, 325-pound Ioane played at Graham-Kapowsin High School. Ioane was a key piece along the offensive line as the school went undefeated and won the Washington 4A state championship.
Ioane was part of an offense that averaged 44.1 points and 456.3 yards per game in 2021, and for his efforts, he was named a Max Preps second-team All-American. He also played defensive tackle in high school.
Ioane was rated as the No.9 recruit in Washington, and as high as the No. 26 interior offensive lineman in the Class of 2022, according to 247Sports.
He originally committed to his home state school Washington, but after head coach Jimmy Lake’s dismissal in December, he reopened his recruiting. After a visit to Penn State in February, Ioane committed to Penn State on National Signing Day.
Ioane is expected to be behind Landon Tengwall, Sal Wormley and Hunter Nourzad to start fall camp. However, there could be room for Ioane to make an immediate impact on Penn State’s offensive line, depending on how fast he can get up to speed.
With Ioane’s arrival, every member of Penn State’s 2022 freshman recruiting class will have arrived on campus.
