Four-star athlete Jacob Oden (6-foot, 175-pounds) spoke to Nittany Sports Now about his offer from Penn State. Oden was offered a week ago on May 17. Penn State was the 30th school to offer the No. 9 ranked safety in the country for the class of 2024.
“I like Penn State,” said Oden. “I watch them during the season. It’s a pretty good school and I know some guys down there.”
Oden hails from Harper Woods, Michigan. The state obviously being in the heart of Big Ten country with Michigan and Michigan State both within an hour and a half of driving time of Harper Woods. The location leads to him being a fan of the conference, and familiar with all the schools including Penn State.
“Oh that’s for sure,” said Oden when asked if he was a fan of the Big Ten. No school in particular though, as he described himself as “just a football fan, period.”
Oden described himself as an all-around athletic and smart football player. His intelligence shined in the classroom this past year as he had a 4.0 at Harper Woods High School and joined the National Honors Society.

Different schools are recruiting him for different things, but Oden said Penn State hasn’t told him what position he is being recruited for. He is the No. 9 safety in the country according to Rivals while 247Sports has him listed as the country’s No. 18 athlete for the class of 2024.
