It might not be a ranking that Penn State athletic director Sandy Barbour or President Eric J. Barron would be proud of.

For Penn State students, however, being ranked in the top 15 of College Football’s “boozeist” fanbases, is probably a badge of honor.

In a ranking released by VegasInsider, Penn State’s fans are number 13 in partying. This is based on a survey of 2,000 supporters with an average age of 31. Interestingly, Penn State only ranked sixth in the Big Ten. Nebraska, Minnesota and Wisconsin occupied the top three sports, Illinois was 10th and Maryland 12th.

The survey said that the average Nittany Lion fan consumes 3.3 drinks before kickoff and spends $25.12 on alcohol inside the stadium. Overall, eight Big Ten teams finished ranked in the top 25, with Michigan coming in at 19 and Purdue 21.

The preseason rankings for 2022 are not out yet.
