Not everyone visiting Penn State is a junior or a sophomore and on unofficial visits.
2022 3-star offensive guard Vega Ioane tells Nittany Sports Now that he’s arrived in State College for an official visit.
Ioane (6’4″, 310) is from Graham, Washington and was previously committed to Washington before opening back up his recruitment on December 12. Ioane made this decision after Washington made a coaching change but they’re still recruiting him after retaining offensive line coach Scott Huff, who was his chief recruiter.
Currently, Ioane’s offer list includes Penn State, Arizona, BYU, California, Colorado, Oregon State, UCLA, USC, Washington, Washington State and Minnesota.
The relationship between these two sides is relatively new, considering Phil Trautwein and Penn State just extended him an offer on January 13.
Nittany Sports Now caught up with Ioane tonight after he arrived on campus and asked him about using his last official visit on Penn State.
“Just everything that I’ve heard from the coaches and the players,” said Ioane. “I felt like this could potentially be somewhere I could call home for a few years. I’m looking forward to learning about the culture that they have, seeing the relationships between players and coaches and what the plan for me would be if I came here. I’m hoping to learn about the academics at Penn State as well.”
Finally, I asked Ioane about the recruiting analysts predicting that he was a lean towards Washington and where exactly his recruitment stood.
“Right now, I’m keeping it to myself but as of this moment, it’s between Washington, Penn State and Minnesota, in no specific order.”
