Against coach Micah Shrewsberry’s old team, Penn State fought hard, but in the end, No.3 Purdue was too much, and left State College with a 74-67 win.
Penn State hung tough throughout the first half, trailing 35-30 at the break. Jalen Pickett led all scorers with 12 points. He’d finish with 21 to lead the Lions.
Penn State fell behind by as many as 13 in the second half, but clawed back to take a 65-64 lead with less than 2:30 to play. But Purdue took control from there, scoring 10 of the games final 12 points.
For Purdue, Trevion Williams tied Pickett for the game high with 21. The Lions’s next game is scheduled for Tuesday against Rutgers at Bryce Jordan.
