Six days ago, Penn State fans found out that head coach James Franklin isn’t going anywhere. Now, fans worried about Franklin might start worrying about another coach leaving.
Defensive Coordinator Brent Pry, who has been at Penn State since Franklin took over in 2014 and has been the defensive coordinator since 2016, is listed by the Twitter account CFBHome as one of three candidates for the Virginia Tech head coaching job.
According to my Virginia Tech source here is the talk of the town for the head coach opening:
Matt Campbell
Charles Huff

Huff, finishing up his first season as Marshall’s head coach, was part of Franklin’s staff at Penn State as the running backs coach and special teams coordinator from 2014-’17. Campbell is the most prominent name on the list. He’s been the head man at Iowa State since 2016 and has been linked to other head coaching jobs as he’s built the Cyclones into a perennial winning team in the Big 12.
Pry has vague ties to Virginia Tech. He was a graduate assistant under Frank Beamer from 1995-97.
