With their team on a bye this week, James Franklin and Terry Smith traveled across the state to visit a couple of their top targets in the Class of 2023.
The duo of Franklin and Smith have spent the last two days making visits to the schools of Laurel Highlands 2023 4-star wide receiver Rodney Gallagher, Brashear 2023 4-star linebacker Ta’Mere Robinson and current Penn State 2023 commit 4-star cornerback Lamont Payne.
On Thursday, Franklin and Smith were at Brashear High School to see Robinson and then Franklin returned later that evening to watch Robinson play in person. Today, Franklin and Smith were at Laurel Highlands High School to spend some time seeing Gallagher. They also spent time at Chartiers Valley High School to see their latest commitment from the WPIAL.
Gallagher and Robinson aren’t just top prospects in the state, they’re ranked by both major recruiting services as one of the Top 100 juniors in the country. It appears that Penn State, Notre Dame and Ohio State are three schools that are very high on Robinson’s list of top schools. As far as Gallagher goes, Penn State and Pitt are a couple schools that have gotten his attention. At this stage of his career, Gallagher has the desire to play both football and basketball in college.
All three of three of these players have made multiple trips to Penn State over the last month, making unofficial visits for the games against both Auburn and Indiana.
Nittany Sports Now is looking into whether Franklin and Smith are visiting or went to any other schools in Western Pennsylvania today or will be attending any Friday Night football games.
