The atmosphere will be electric in State College on Saturday for Penn State’s clash with Auburn.
ESPN’s College GameDay will get the day started by broadcasting live from Beaver Stadium in the morning and then the football program has called for a “Whiteout” with the fans in attendance. The sidelines will be filled with close to 100 high school recruits that received invitations from the Nittany Lions coaching staff and today the football program made another announcement.
Former Nittany Lion Adam Taliaferro will serve as an honorary captain for Saturday nights battle against Auburn. The story behind Taliaferro and the inspiration it gives has become legendary. The former Penn State defensive back suffered a spinal cord injury in a game against Ohio State that left him paralyzed from the neck down. The outlook was that Taliaferro would never walk again but that wasn’t the final outcome. Following months of intense rehabilitation, he made a miraculous recovery and was able to learn to walk again.
This is a scene that Penn State fans will never forget as he led the Nittany Lion players out of the tunnel in 2001 vs. Miami, Fla.
Kickoff from Beaver Stadium is set for 7:30 PM and the game will be televised on ABC.
