The latest scholarship offer from the Penn State football program goes to one of the top sophomores in the country.
2024 wide receiver Ryan Pellum received the news on Monday after talking with wide receivers coach Taylor Stubblefield. Pellum (5’10”, 165) is from Millikan High School in Long Beach, California. Despite only entering his sophomore season, Pellum holds offers from Texas, Texas A&M, Pitt, Oregon, Notre Dame, Nebraska, Mississippi State, Minnesota, Michigan State, Miami, LSU, Florida State, Colorado, California, BYU, Arkansas, Arizona State and Arizona.
Pellum is currently ranked as a 247 Sports 4-star recruit and ranked as the No. 56 overall player in the Class of 2024.
Following his phone call with Penn State, Nittany Sports Now spoke with Pellum about his latest offer from James Franklin’s program.
“It really feels good to have all these offers, the biggest thing is I know now that I won’t have to worry about paying for college and I get to be doing the thing that I love,” Pellum said. “Everybody told me that all this would happen one day (volume of Power 5 offers) but I really didn’t expect this to be happening so fast.”
“My conversation with Penn State went pretty good. I talked with Coach Stubblefield and he said that he liked that I was young and that I have so much potential. He said that they want to stay in contact with me. Penn State has a good football program and the school is very good academically.”

Pellum has spoken with so many coaches and he tells Nittany Sports Now that the thing coaches compliment him on is his speed, ball skills as a receiver and his elusiveness after the catch.
