Notebook (1-4): Tim Frazier signs with Grizzlies

Update: 9:20 p.m.

**Former PSU guard Tim Frazier is back with an NBA team as he signed earlier today with the Memphis Grizzlies.

Frazier has played in the NBA every season since 2014-15, and has had a nice career as a reserve point guard. He’s averaged 5.0 points, 4.0 assists and 2.3 rebounds in 17.7 minutes per game.

The 30-year-old had not been with an NBA team early this season after getting waived by the Detroit Pistons last February.

He has earned $8.9 million in his career.

Update: 10:05 a.m.

**Penn State has a pretty nice ranking in the initial men’s basketball NET rankings released by the NCAA.

The Nittany Lions come in at No. 42 overall, and they are the eighth Big Ten team in the NET rankings. Penn State is 3-4 overall and 0-3 in the Big Ten. The only other team without a league win yet is Nebraska (0-4).

The NET rankings are now used instead of the old RPI formula when it comes to helping the NCAA Tournament selection committee evaluate teams. A ranking of 42 would be very good at the end of the season when it comes to possibly making the tournament, although we are a long, long way from that point.

Penn State had its home game Sunday against Wisconsin postponed out of what was deemed “an abundance of caution.” The Lions’ next game will be Wednesday night at Ohio State.

The top 10 in NET rankings:

1: Gonzaga

2: Baylor

3: Tennessee

4: Illinois

5: Villanova

6: Michigan

  1. Iowa

8: Houston

9: Texas

10: Missouri

Update: 9:45 a.m.

**Of the 14 teams that made the NFL playoffs, 12 of them include a former Penn State player. All told, 18 former Nittany Lions are members of teams that will be in the playoffs.
