Welcome to our daily Nittany Notebook. This post will be updated frequently throughout the day with news, notes and sometimes entertaining info. So be sure to check back often to stay on top of everything that’s going on with Penn State football and athletics, plus other sports of interest in central PA.

Update: 6:20 p.m.

**Penn State picked up a grad transfer RB on Monday as John Lovett announced he’s transferring from Baylor to PSU. Lovett had 130 yards rushing on 45 carries this season. He was much more productive his first three years with Baylor, rushing for 655 yards last season, 573 in 2018 and 445 in 2017.

**Penn State senior defensive end Shane Simmons announced Monday that his college career is over. Simmons could have returned to PSU for one more years thanks to the NCAA’s rule allowing players an extra year of eligibility, but he decided to call it a career.

Simmons was a 4-star recruit in 2016 and spent five years with the PSU program. He wasn’t able to develop into a college star, but he was an important part of the program. He had a career day against Michigan State on senior day as he started and had seven tackles and 1.5 sacks.
