Watch: James Franklin press conference, including thoughts on 2-point call and Ford’s accidental TD

Some comments from James Franklin after the game.

“They played well and we didn’t.”

“The hard part is there was a lot of plays throughout that game that we would have liked to have been different.”

On the controversial 2-point call that won the game

Franklin had not yet seen a good replay of the 2-point call when he talked to the media.

“From what I was told (from coaches in the booth) it could have went either way. But if it’s something that could go either way, it’s inconclusive and the call stands.”

On Devyn Ford scoring a TD late when Indiana let him score to get the ball back:

“It’s my job as the head coach to make sure everybody understands those situations, and obviously right there it didn’t happen.

“I think Indiana did let us score. … Their chart was telling them to score and our chart was telling us not to score.”

“We went through that situation this week. We went through that situation on the sideline. And obviously we could have handled it better and I could have handled it better.

“What we wanted to do is get as much as you can and get down. That situation, we’ve covered it, we went through it during the game.”
