Get to know: DE Shaka Toney, who explains his tweet about rumors ‘destroying our mental health’

Defensive end Shaka Toney figures to be in for a big season with the Nittany Lions, and like the rest of his teammates, he’s just happy there is a season.

Toney made news last month when he sent out a telling tweet about how he and his teammates were feeling regarding all the rumors about whether there would or would not be a Big Ten season.

Toney was asked recently why he sent that tweet.

“Me personally, it just got a little bit overwhelming,” he said. “Every day was just rumor after rumor. I kind of eventually just deleted social media and kind of just tried to zero out and focus on what I could control, because that’s the best thing you can do in this world.”

He later added:
